Stephanie Nama, Analyst
Dr. Stephanie Nama’s work combines health promotion, protection, and prevention with a focus on cultural diversity and gender issues. She currently serves as a consultant for the National Institute of Public Health as well as for the French General Consulate in Burkina Faso where she is working to develop new forms of social assistance for vulnerable families.
While earning her medical degree from University of Saint Thomas d’Aquin in Burkina Faso, she completed her thesis on the determinants of obstetrical and surgical fistulas among women in Burkina Faso. She has also conducted in depth research into adhesion to HIV antiretroviral therapy among sex workers of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Stephanie believes that solutions to health conditions must come directly from the population being served and those solutions must be based on the level of health literacy of that population which means developing innovative approaches using participatory action research and new communication technologies.
